Fashion Nails Valentino Couture Inspired Nail Art

Lovely nails are always on my menu when Spring sets in! Just before Easter themes begin to overflow, my nails are blossoming each week! This time I chose a yet another fashion theme fresh off the catwalk: Valentino Haute Couture Spring 2015.

While it looks like a love letter to Spring, this mani is definitely a keeper! It’s simple, it allows a lot of creative freedom while being catchy and feminine. It’s like an homage to the incredible artistic work that’s been put into the Haute Couture creations shown by the Valentino maison in their Spring Summer 2015 Couture show!

The house’s creations are always very feminine and delicate, with countless precious details and embroideries, if you’re not familiar with Valentino, I highly suggest you check out some of their collections: loads of ruffles, flowy, romantic dresses, perfect for Spring! I love gazing at delicate clothes, it somehow inspires and tames me – and I love fashion shows! I always find a good idea to paint on my nails!

To achieve that layered soft base I thought I’d try something home-made – you know how I love to experiment with colors! So I mixed together Orly Blushalicious, OPI Tickle my France-y, transparent lacquer and polish thinner in an empty bottle of nail polish. I applied four coats to obtain an opaque look and once it dried out, I started to paint the flowers. It really felt like the Valentino design was starting to get to life right there, at the tips of my fingers!

Using a striping nail art brush dipped in OPI Holiday Glow covered with China Glaze Keeping it Teal I painted the delicate branches. For the petals, I used the gorgeous textured pink Catrice Call Me a Princess over a milky white for French from Orly. I added definition with thin Zoya Sweet stripes.

Now that the flowers were done, I added the dotted interior with the same OPI Holiday Glow – don’t they look pretty? A petal here, a leaf there and for the writing, I used an all-surface marker. Which of course started smudging when I applied the topcoat (can you hear my desperate cry? I promise it sounded like something straight out of a Harry Potter’s magic class!). Oh, well, you can’t have it all! At least the flowers came our lovely. Didn’t they? (you can pretend, just to make me feel better about the smudging?! Thank you! I promise I’ll behave and only use nail polish for writing next time!)
