Fashion Nails: Resort 2015 Dior Inspired Mani

By  |  0 Comments

Since I talked about the Red Carpet nails and how much I enjoy watching the glamorous parade of gowns, how about I let you in on my other passion: fashion shows! Today I’m doing a design inspired by a dress seen on the catwalk!

I’ll try to do that every Friday, a design inspired from the catwalk, from a model or fashion show! There’s a lot of inspiration and many new trends to spy right off the runway! The Resort 2015 collections are particularly interesting and today I’ll show you my Christian Dior inspired nails!

white nails stickers for ruffian mani

Starting off with a white base (OPI Alpine Snow), I applied the stickers right after the two coats of white have dried completely. With a solid black (OPI Black Onyx) I created a sort of ruffian design which can be very well worn on its own!

By the way – did you know that the well-known ‘Ruffian design’ was actually created in the backstages of a fashion show for the Ruffian maison? Yep, it’s all fashion, baby! So the ruffian is basically a half-moon shape at the base of your nail painted in a very contrasting color with the rest of the upper nail, a sort of ‘growing out’ your polish. So you might go ahead and presume my original nails were black and the white ones were weirdly, diagonally growing out. Not!

Fashion can cause erratic discourse!
So now it’s time to get to the fun artsy part! As you can see on the Dior dress, there’s a sort of canvas in the upper part of the bodice, with obvious brushes strokes in two different directions. That brushes stroke effect can only be replicated (in my head, at least) using acrylic paints and wide brushes. I used one brush for the red and a less wide one for the black and on I went!

There’s no need to study your brushing technique too much, just go ahead and get your Van Gogh on! It’s supposed to be abstract and slightly ‘unfinished’! The entire Christian Dior Resort 2015 collection is based on black and white and drawing-like prints, so you’ll be very chic sporting this type of design! I hope you enjoyed my Friday Fashion nails, let me know what you think in the comments below!
